10 superfood to boost your immune system

In our last blog post, we talked about 8 steps to boost your immune system. One of the ways is to eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds and here are 10 superfood to boost your immune system.

1. Citrus Fruit

Citrus fruits are full of vitamin C which increases the production of white blood cells. These are key to fighting infections.

Fruits such as:

  • Grapefruit
  • Lemons
  • Lime
  • Tangerines
  • Oranges

Your body does not store or hold vitamin C, so make sure you’re constantly injecting these into your eating regime.

2. Red Bell Peppers

Red bell peppers contain twice as much vitamin C as a citrus fruit. They are also rich in beta carotene which helps your eyes and skin to be healthy.

3. Broccoli

Broccoli is packed with vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, C and E. They are high in fiber. In order to preserve these vitamins and minerals, it is better to cook it as little as possible.

4. Garlic

Garlic is good in fighting infections, and it also helps lower blood pressure and slows down the hardening of the arteries.

5. Ginger

Ginger also contains various vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium, and is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties.

6. Spinach

As with broccoli, spinach is rich in vitamin C and is also packed with numerous antioxidants. Again, it’s best that to cook it as little as possible.

7. Yogurt

Yogurt is an excellent source for probiotics and vitamin D. It stimulates your immune system to fight diseases.

We suggest you get plain yogurts rather than the sweetened kinds. If it tastes too bland, add a hint of natural honey and berries to give your body an additional antioxidant boost.

8. Almonds

Vitamin E is also important to your immune system. Nuts, such as almond are packed with vitamin E and healthy fats.

9. Papayas

Papayas are loaded with Vitamin C and have a digestive enzyme that has anti-inflammatory effects.

10. Sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds are full of nutrients such as Vitamin E. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and is good at regulating and maintaining the function of the immune system.
